Program Leaders
Rebecca Betensky, PhD, is the Director of HNDC’s Biostatistics Consultation Program. Dr. Betensky is a Member of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology at MIT and Harvard School of Public Health.
Robert H. Brown, MD, PhD, is a Co-Director of the Collaborative ALS Drug Discovery Initiative. Dr. Brown is Chairman of Neurology at University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Greg Cuny, PhD, is Co-Director of the Laboratory for Drug Discovery in Neurodegeneration and Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Cuny’s research concentrates on medicinal chemistry, the use of transition metals in organic synthesis and natural product synthesis.
Philip De Jager, MD, is a founding member of the International Multiple Sclerosis Consortium. Dr. De Jager is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital where he is also an Associate Neurologist.
Lai Ding, PhD, is manager of the HNDC Optical Imaging Core. Prior to joining the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center in 2006, Dr. Ding managed the Imaging Core at the Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research.
Matthew Frosch, MD, PhD, is the Faculty Coordinator at the HNDC Advanced Tissue Resource Center. He is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and Director of Neuropathology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Marcie Glicksman, PhD, is Co-Director of the Laboratory for Drug Discovery in Neurodegeneration and is Senior Director of the Center’s Cell Based Imaging Program. Dr. Glicksman has extensive experience in assay development, high throughput screening, and chemical databases.
David Hafler, MD, is a founding member of the International MS Genetics Consortium. Dr. Hafler is the chief and chair of neurology at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale School of Medicine.
Bradley Hyman, MD, PhD, is a Co-Director of the HNDC Biomarkers Discovery Program and Co-Director of the Pilot Study Grants Program. Dr. Hyman is the John B. Penney, Jr. Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital where he has a clinical practice in the Memory and Disorder Unit and is the Director of the Massachusetts Alzheimer Disease Research Center.
Adrian J. Ivinson, PhD, is the founding Director of the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center. Dr. Ivinson was previously special advisor to the Provost of Harvard University.
Ferenc Jolesz, MD, is the Co-Director of the Advanced MRI Program at HNDC. Dr. Jolesz is also the Director of the Division of Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Director of the National Center for Image Guided Therapy and Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Nancy Maher, MPH, is the Senior Project Manager at the HNDC Biomarkers Discovery Program. Previously, Ms. Maher was the Program Director for the Division of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Sharon Peled, PhD, manages the 4.7T Small Animal MRI Program jointly operated by the HNDC and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Radiology. Dr. Peled is also an Assistant Professor of Radiology in Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Clemens Scherzer, MD, is the Co-Director of the HNDC Biomarkers Discovery Program. He is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Neurologist at both Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Charles Vanderburg, PhD, is the Director of the Advanced Tissue Resource Center. He is also an instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and does collaborative research with Massachusetts General Hospital.
